[Q1] The show began with the opening montage and the main events are: champion vs. champion match between Edge and Rey Mysterio and CM Punk/Umaga. Edge came to the ring with ladders all over the ring and the ramp. He gets extreme heat from the crowd.

Edge welcomed everyone to a special edition of the "Cutting Edge: and the focus is the ladder match. He introduces Jeff Hardy who gets a big ovation from the hot crowd. Jeff has a cut under his right eye and is greeted with Hardy chants. Jeff said that if he wants to speak with him, he will be at the top of the ladder.

He says he is comfortable with his surroundings and at Extreme Rules he will be at the top as the new world champ. Edge says what makes him contempt is how he can pander the crowd (as sheep) and how he glossed over on how dangerous this match will be. Edge said every time he will climb the ladder, he will knock him down. He said that he will try to get higher, but he will knock him back down. He mentioned that he will give the crowd a false sense of hope and climb higher and he will knock Jeff back down.

And then, when he knocks Jeff down for the last time, he will climb to the top and grab his world heavyweight championship. He mentions that it’s the same old dance and result. Jeff mocked Edge and said blah, blah, blah and mentioned that he is crazy and he is proud of what he is right how. He said living for the moment is not his downfall, it will be his salvation. Edge said he will need that salvation and his knocked Jeff off the ladder with the world title. Edge got a chorus of heat the close the segment. [C]

[Q2] The replay of Jeff Hardy getting knocked off the ladder was shown again.

1. John Morrison defeated Shelton Benjamin in 4:50. The match began with Morrison getting the advantage with a dropkick and punches. Shelton took over by working on Morrison’s knee. Shelton continued the aggression by applying a inverted figure four leg lock. Morrison broke out of the submission and hit an insurghi kick to Shelton’s head. Morrison hit numerous clotheslines for a near fall. Morrison hit a knee for a two count. Morrison missed a springboard and Shelton put Morrison is a half Boston crab submission. Morrison got a rollup for a near fall and hit a DDT. Morrison hit the Starship Pain for the victory.

The announcers hyped the main events for the night and Chris Jericho is coming to the ring for his match, next…[C]

[Q3] The Smack of the Night was shown with Jericho posing as a fan and beating Mysterio from last week. Jericho gets heat and says the Mysterio should be afraid because Jericho as the face of Smackdown will take off his mask. He says that Mysterio is a hypocrite and he is worst that the crowd. He said that Mysterio is a hero and an idol to the children but he doesn’t want to take his mask. He said the crowd is zombies and he will rip and tear his mask off and it will ruin his life.

He said he will become the IC champion for the unprecedented ninth time. R-Truth comes out and interrupts Jericho with his usual wack ass rap. He asked Jericho what’s up and Jericho stared at this fool and said you want to know what’s up. He said that he can dance and pander to these puppets and he is not done with what he wants to say. Truth said that he is done and called Jericho the biggest the hypocrite that he knows. He asked Jericho is he is a thug and because he talks down the crowd? Truth said he will bring the Truth, the whole Truth and nothing but the Truth. [C]

2. Chris Jericho defeated R-Truth in 4:00. Truth applied a hit toss and a suicide dive to Jericho outside of the ring. Truth climbed to the top rope but Jericho hit the rope and knocked him outside of the ring. Jericho threw Truth back in the ring and kicked in the midsection. Truth hit a rollup for a near fall. Jericho hit an elbow but missed a Lionsault. Jericho tried to put Truth in the Walls of Jericho but Truth escaped. Truth went to the top of the ropes but Jericho hit a botched Codebreaker for the win.

Afterwards, Mysterio came out and attacked Jericho. Two referees got Mysterio off and Mysterio hit a Cinton off the ramp to Jericho on the concrete. [C]

[Q4] Video was shown for the Punk and Umaga feud of the past couple of weeks.

3. C.M. Punk defeated Umaga in 12:28. The match started back and forth with kicks and punches with both competitors. Punk hit a cross body to Umaga for a near fall. [C]

[Q5] The match returned with Punk having the advantage. Punk hit an insurghi kick to Umaga. Punk tried a suicide kick but Umaga hit a Samoan Spike in the air. He went on to throw Punk into the security railing. Umaga got the full advantage by putting a nerve submission and a super kick to Punk for a near fall. Umaga put Punk in a bowing arrow submission and hit a knee to Punk’s back. Umaga applied a half bear hug to Punk and Punk hit some elbows to get out of the hug. Umaga hit a super kick and Punk countered with a cross body clothesline for a near fall.

Punk got a knee lift to Umaga for a near fall. Umaga caught Punk for a spinning side slam for a near fall. Umaga dragged Punk to the corner, but Punk moved hit the knee and attempted the bulldog but Umaga pushed him. Umaga tried to get the strap but Punk lifted Umaga and hit the GTS for the win.

The champion vs. champion match is hyped for later tonight. [C]

The announcers ran down the Extreme Rules card.

Maria is the special guest referee for the upcoming match. The babyface Divas come out to Melina’s entrance and the heels come out to Michelle McCool’s entrance.

[Q6] 4. Michelle McCool, Alicia Fox and Layla defeated WWE Women’s Champion Melina, Eve and Gail Kim in 3:20. Eve and Fox began the matchup. Kim got the tag and hit a spear and a cross body for a near fall. McCool got the tag and flipped Kim for a near fall. McCool got aggressive on Kim and tagged in Layla. Layla hit a dropkick to Kim for a near fall. Kim hit a drop toe hold to Layla and Kim tagged Melina. Melina hit a double knee to Layla’s midsection for a near fall. Eve spared Fox, McCool hit a super kick to Kim and Layla hit her neck breaker finisher on Melina for the win.

Khali and Singh are approaching the ring for a match, next…[C]

Highlights of the Khali and Ziggler feud are shown.

5. The Great Khali (with Ranjin Singh) defeated Dolph Ziggler in 2:52. Ziggler tried to attack Khali, but Khali hit an elbow and chop to Ziggler’s chest. Khali hit a clothesline, and big boot and a Punjabi Plunge for the quick win.

Video was shown of earlier in the night when Edge pushed Jeff Hardy off the ladder. The main event is next. [C]

[Q7] Justin Roberts gave a shout out to Koko B. Ware who was in attendance. Rey Mysterio got a standing ovation from the hot crowd. The crowd went in reverse and gave Edge some good heat.

6. World Heavyweight Champion Edge defeated Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio in a champion vs. champion non-title match in 19:10. The match began with Edge getting the early advantage by working on Mysterio in the corner. Mysterio hit some punches but Edge countered by throwing Mysterio out and hitting a baseball slide. Edge threw Mysterio into the stairs, but Mysterio flipped and hit a dropkick on the stairs to Edge’s knees. Mysterio then hopped on Edge outside of the ring. [C]

[Q8] The show returned with Mysterio hitting a kick to Edge for a near fall. Mysterio ran into the corner and Edge hit a big boot for a near fall. Edge hit a nasty Irish whip to Mysterio. Mysterio hit two dropkicks, hurricrata and a kick to the head for a near fall. There were four near falls between both guys in a matter of 30 seconds. Both competitors were laid out to the final commercial break. [C]

The matched returned hit a cross body on Mysterio’s back for a near fall. Mysterio kicked Edge in his knee three times and hit a face buster. Mysterio climbed the rope and hit a hurricrata on Edge to throw him out the ring. Mysterio then hit a suicide dive on Edge outside the ring. Mysterio hit a springboard leg drop for a near fall. Mysterio hit a flying cross body for a near fall. Edge caught Mysterio but Mysterio countered with a DDT for a near fall. Mysterio tried to jump on Edge but Edge countered with a sharpshooter. Mysterio crawled to the bottom rope to break the submission. Mysterio kicked Edge to the rope and attempted a 619 twice but Edge countered with back breaker. Mysterio tried a roll up for a near fall.

Mysterio finally got the 619 and Mysterio tried to hit the Cinton, but Mysterio botched and Edge speared Mysterio for the clean win. Afterwards, Edge tried to take Mysterio out with a ladder but Jeff Hardy ran out and gave Edge a Twist of Fate on Edge on the ladder. Jeff then jumped after the 15 foot ladder and hit a leg drop on Edge. The he held the world title to end the show.
