The last ECW original to survive the WWE’s watered down version of ECW remains in tact as well as adding 25 pounds of gold to his waist.

Dreamer is the most deserving champion on that roster.  You may ask the question, why.  Tommy Dreamer is the heart and soul of ECW; past, present and future.  Despite not agreeing with the product on numerous occasions, he continued to stick with it.

Dreamers contract was up this past weekend, but vowed to renew his contract with the WWE if he were to capture the coveted ECW Championship.  Coming in to Sunday’s PPV, many expected the outcome of Dreamer capturing the title.  

Although it was a storyline on air, it packed more truth to it than many fans could acknowledge.  Is it the right way to get him the title, some may say yes and others will say no.  

Me personally, I did not like the storyline.  He should have been pushed to the position he is in now, without the storyline.  Creative could have put him over on the top talent in ECW to gain a #1 contenders match against Cage, which he would prevail victorious.  The storyline took away from the meaning of the title, despite what many would think.

Has there ever been a more-deserving champion, to take years to win?  No.  When you think of ECW, two names stick out.  RVD and Tommy Dreamer.  These two superstars are the true definition of extreme, passion and best of all ECW.  

Dreamer’s win this past Sunday put smiles amongst all the ECW Originals faces when they saw the outcome.  One can only imagine where this will take Dreamer from this point forward.  Will he continue his hot-streak and hold the title for the foreseeable future, time will tell.  ECW’s roster depth has enhanced incredibly over the last year and Dreamer’s age may catch up to him.
