For those who check out the weekly ratings, you have began to notice a trend in declining ratings as of late. Does this hold any significance? Don’t put to much to it, each WWE brand is loaded with new rosters as well as fresh interesting storylines.
Ratings may be on a decline, but WWE is facing some stiff competition with the NHL and NBA playoffs in full steam. Last night’s ECW went head to head with a western conference show-down with Dallas defeating San Antonio to advance in to the semi-final round. RAW went head to head with Los Angeles advancing to the sem-finals as well.
Now, the one thing to point out is the SmackDown rating. SmackDown scored a 1.6 broadcast rating this past Friday, which is the lowest it’s done since July of 2008. Since moving to MyNetwork TV, SmackDown has been the network’s key original programming. The ratings were touted by WWE on several occasions. Although it’s still to early to say SmackDown’s viewership is rapidly decreasing, that rating is somewhat alarming to WWE.
SmackDown usually focuses in more on the wrestling aspect, while RAW focuses more on promos and storylines. It’s still safe to say, if you are a big fan of great wrestling matches, SmackDown’s quality has NOT gone down, one bit and ratings will likely begin to climb back up.
