On the heels of probably one of the most shocking PPV’s in recent memory, RAW started off stronger than I even anticipated. RAW opened with Vickie introducing the new WWE chamion - Randy Orton. After a long drawn out promo, it is revealed that Batista would face Big Show for the #1 contenders spot at Judgment Day.
Shortly thereafter, MVP would interrupt Orton and put on a great promo moving him up on the roster from possibly mid-carder to main eventer in the coming months! As a huge MVP fan, couldn’t have been happier.
RAW’s opening match featured Kofi Kingston and THE Brian Kendrick. Kingston started out strong, but that was quickly overhauled when Kendrick got the upper hand. This match was high paced and ended fairly quick, with Kingston getting the pinfal. Overall, too quick of a match to really rate.
Back from a commercial and we are graced with Santina Marella’s presence. The he-she started the eight diva tag match with Beth Pheonix on the opposition. Santina rolled up Jillian for a quick pinfal. This match was also short, but featured some fun action with Hornswoggle appearing from under the ring.
Surprisingly Matt Hardy came out for a match with Goldust. Prior to the match, Matt Hardy did a heel promo calling Jeff an insensitive and uncaring barbarian. As expected, Hardy used his cast to get the victory over goldust. Yet, another quick match. Hardy showed a great deal of emotion during his promo.
MVP vs. Randy Orton began slow, then the pace started to pick up with both on the offensive end. Orton received a ton of heat throughout the match, as expected. MVP looked great, and the match was great despite the DQ ending when Shane McMahon came in with a Kendo stick and demolished Orton. Fans were ecstatic when he nailed the flying elbow off the top rope.
The Miz came out and the opening of his promo reminded me so much of THE ROCK!!! His promo was impressive, while he called out John Cena. Cena’s music hit, with no appearance of WWE’s most hated superstar. I love The Miz’s energy, he is a great addition to the RAW roster.
Carlito and Primo are up next, facing Chavo and Jamie Noble. Decent match, with some great action from time to time.
Batista’s promo was nothing special, showing emotion and will for revenge against Orton.
Before Batista vs. Big Show went underway, Vickie announced next week’s main event - Randy Orton vs. Shane Mcmahon. Possibly a twist to the storyline, shane maybe joining Legacy? We’ll see.
Batista vs. Big Show was a good match. Fairly quick pace for two big men. Batista and Big Show both displayed a great deal of strength by picking one another up like it was nothing. As Batista set up for the batista bomb, Big Show nailed a choke slam out of nowhere. Then, John Cena came out to distract The Big Show and Batista gets the Win via countout and Batista will be going to Judgment to face Randy Orton for the WWE title. Great way to end RAW.
Overall, tonight’s show was great, top to bottom. Quick matches, fun parts of the show and a great main event. Best of all MVP gets to shine on the RAW brand, hopefully this continues!
If you DVR’d the whole show, I suggest watching it all, I was entertained for most of RAW.
