This week’s RAW, after much controversy surrounding the Pepsi Center in Denver was as expected; a fun show. Vince opened RAW with a parody of the Pepsi Center owner. The parody was nothing spectacular but got the point across.
The logic of the opener puzzled me. The Miz interrupting Vince, and Vince doing nothing about it? That is completely insane; no one interrupts Vinny Mac. The Miz’s promos are quite entertaining and I like the way he has stepped his game up.
The Divas championship match was less than impressive. But I wouldn’t take credit away from Kelly Kelly and Maryse. I think fans not getting in to diva matches takes away the energy of the competitors. If fans were to get more in to these matches, the adrenaline would boost performances and give us a better show, in terms of diva matches. I don’t really get in to matches that you can hear a pin drop.
Goldust and Horny are a great team, yet another fun aspect of RAW.
William Regal, Matt Hardy and Kofi Kingston put on a great match. Hardy sold his injury early, and Kingston and Regal battled it out at a fast pace to start things off. Kofi came out victorious and next week Kingston and MVP will fight for the US Title - should be a great match. I was puzzled when MVP got a mixed reaction when he came down to the ring. MVP’s appearance at ringside helped validate the importance of the three-way match.
Overall, the first hour had little to really boast about, with the exception of the three-way match. Entertainment wise, it delivered. But I would like to see creative start balancing wrestling and entertainment out a little bit more.
I will be back later tonight or tomorrow with my thoughts on the second hour of RAW.
