Live Detailed Fan Report From Great American Bash, Notes

Reported By Patrick Boucher on Monday, July 21 2008

Thanks to reader Powerhouse for the following:

Just got back from the Nassau Coliseum and it certainly was an interesting night of wrestling.

The crowd was fired up right from the start as it was Long Island's first ppv since SummerSlam 2002.

Umaga def. Mr. Kennedy in about 5 minutes in the dark match with the samoan spike. Kennedy made fun of Bret Favre on the mic for not making up his mind about retiring.

The crowd was insane for the US title match and was pulling for both men. There were crazy chants of "Let's go Matt!!!"... "Let's go Shelton!!!" Good to see for a match with 2 young guys with good talent.

Dreamer vs Henry was the stinker of the night. Its pretty lame how WWE still considers the ECW title a big thing. Its a joke and the brand should be merged with Smackdown and Raw. I certainly would have enjoyed Jeff Hardy, Rey or MVP in the ring instead of these two. The Ny crowd was somewhat behind Dreamer though, who hails from Yonkers.

I don't know if it came off on tv, but on the screen, it now appears that Shawn Michaels went from semi balding to almost completely bald on the top of his head other than the one spot of long hair. Quite sad in my opinion, but maybe he'll use this one last hiatus for a hair transplant. On a side note, fans were way behind Jericho almost just as much as they were for Michaels. There were even some boos for HBK during the bout.

CM Punk and Batista were booed and cheered respectively. I think Punk still has A LOT of work to do to make fans believe he's a good world's champion.

Unfortunately, the crowd died out around main event time, as WWE didn't do the women's match in between the last two matches which they really should have done. A similar situation to this happened at Wrestlemania 24. They popped huge for HHH though, as he was the most over guy of the night and looked great.

Overall I'd give this ppv a B. Many more kids in the crowd since its a Long Island show unlike Garden back at the Royal Rumble, but I guess that's always good to see.
