EXCLUSIVE: Inside Look On Bobby Lashley's Win; Where He Will Go

Reported By Patrick W. Boucher on Jun 29, 2009 - 1:33:13 AM

Former ECW Champion Bobby Lashley continues his tear through the Mixed Martial Arts world after successfully defeating Bob Sapp last night at Ultimate Chaos.

Lashley immediate shot in for a takedown, which was successful.  Lashley improved his position to half guard, where he continued to land great ground and pound until Sapp was forced to tap out due to strikes.

Sapp was expected to be Lashley’s biggest test thus far in to his young MMA career.  Last night, Lashley looked like Sapp was on a different level.  The gameplan was quite obvious, take Sapp down, wear him out, make him gass and then ground and pound him till he could continue no longer.

Sapp came in to this fight, with outweighing Lashley by over 60 pounds.  Lashley’s chin had never been tested, and Sapp had hopes of landing several big right’s to see how Lashley would fair under pressure.  Lashley was patient and used a great gameplan to avoid unnecessary punishment.

What is next for the MMA prospect?  Lashley has gave no indication as to where he will be going from here.  There were rumblings of him signing with Strikeforce to compete in their stacked heavyweight division, but all reports are premature at this point.

Bobby Lashley’s future in MMA has no limits, he has proven he is worthy of all opponents and is putting his heart in to the training and has all his focus on improving and winning.  The biggest question for Lashley fans is when we will see him in the UFC.  My assumption would be somewhere in 2010.  Why not sooner?  Well, Lashley is still taking on the learning curve and has accepted the challenge to fight in the smaller shows before heading to the biggest stage of them all - the UFC.
