In what is a relatively quiet week day, usually, today turned in to a huge media day for TNA Wrestling. News broke early Tuesday afternoon that TNA had signed wrestling legend Hulk Hogan to a contract. The contract is rumored to be for around three years. In addition to Hogan signing with TNA, former WCW president Eric Bischoff has also signed. Although Hogan is way beyond his prime, Hogan brings a media circus, to promote TNA, he also brings one of the biggest names in the business to TNA. Hogan will serve a prominent role on weekly Television, and occasionally wrestle. While the forum boards are buzzing, putting Hogan’s impact to rest, it really is a great move by TNA. Hogan could boost Impact’s ratings significantly, and gain exposure for the younger guys in the company. Will Hogan’s signing effect the future of Vince Russo in TNA? Early indications suggest that Russo is in no danger of losing his job and acted unsurprised of the signing. Anyone who watched WCW would know the history between the two, a history similar to Vince/Bret Hart. Eric Bischoff signing with TNA isn’t that big of news, or is it? Of course it is. Bischoff is a great business man and will serve TNA in more ways than none. Bischoff’s role in TNA Wrestling will be mainly behind the scenes, working deals with TNA, SpikeTV and many others. Bischoff will also be participating in the creative department, helping bring a new feel to TNA and a new direction in terms of storylines. With this all said, did TNA make the correct move. In a business sense, yes, but it’s still to early to tell if it will really volt TNA in to new heights. Adding a business man like Bischoff will definitely bring new deals to the table for future TNA products and Television shows. It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds in the coming weeks, months and year.
