- WWE RAW kicks off tonight live from the BI-LO Center in Greenville, South Carolina. Jim Ross welcomes us to the arena as Jerry Lawler goes over the 8-Man match tonight. Also later tonight, the Presidential Candidates will be addressing the fans.

- We go to Lilian Garcia who is in the ring introducing the King of the Ring tournament. And the first match is up...

KOTR Tournament Match: Chris Jericho vs. MVP
The WWE Intercontinental Champion comes out first for this opening KOTR match up. The WWE United States Champion MVP is out next. MVP enters the arena without his usual blow up and points at the King's throne, then makes his way to the ring.

They lock up first and MVP goes to spit in Jericho's face. MVP starts the match off very aggressive but Jericho fires right back with a strong attack of his own. They go back and forth and end up in the turnbuckle with MVP landing a series of blows. Jericho drops MVP over the ropes and drops him to the floor. Running dropkick through the ropes by Jericho sends MVP back.

Back in the ring now and MVP hits Jericho with a big knee to the face, a side slam and a 2 count. Another 1 count and another 2 count by MVP. MVP takes Y2J down and holds him with a sit down version of an abdominal stretch and holds it.

Back to their feet now and Jericho knocks MVP down with two shoulder blocks. MVP catches Jericho in a side suplex and gets a 2 count. Big overhead suplex by Jericho gets him a 2 count on MVP and another. MVP rolls Jericho into a backslide and gets another 2 count. Jericho runs into a big boot by MVP and lands yet another close 2 count.

MVP catches Jericho on his shoulders in a fireman's carry and drops him on his face for a 2 count. Back up now and Jericho hits a clothesline for a 2 count on MVP. They get back up now with Jericho hitting right hands on MVP. MVP hits a big jawbreaker on Jericho but misses the splash in the corner. Running bulldog by Jericho lays MVP out. Lionsault is missed by Jericho as MVP goes for his Playmaker. Jericho locks on the Walls of Jericho and MVP eventually taps out.

Winner: Chris Jericho

Jericho advances to the King of the Ring semi-finals. We see a close-up shot of MVP's head above his eye and there's a large bump from a shot he took from Jericho. Jericho heads to the back but stops at the King's throne, steps up on the display and sits in the throne as we go backstage where CM Punk is shown stretching for his match next. We go to commercial.

CM Punk vs. Matt Hardy
Punk and Hardy start the match, sizing each other up. They lock up and go to the corner where Hardy ties Punk's arm up and applies pressure. Punk breaks the hold with a mean right hand. Hardy goes to slam Punk but gets hit with a series of elbows and a neckbreaker. 2 count by Punk.

Punk drops Hardy in the center of the ring and grounds him with a headlock and holds it. The crowd gets behind Hardy and he gets to his feet, fighting back. Punk takes Hardy back to the mat with a side headlock. They go in the corner and Punk hits a series of knees on Hardy, then takes him to the top. Hardy fights Punk off the top turnbuckle and hits a big chop from the top then a big clothesline. Running clothesline in the corner by Hardy but he gets hit by a big running knee in the corner by Punk. Bulldog drops both men and Punk gets another 2 count.

Hardy catches Punk of the top rope, drops him and gets a 2 count. Punk counters the Twist of Fate but gets the GTS countered. Hardy rolls Punk up but Punk counters it and hooks Hardy's legs for the 1-2-3. Punk advances to the King of the Ring semi-finals.

Winner: CM Punk

Punk heads to the back but stops and sits in the King's throne with his MITB briefcase. Chris Jericho will face CM Punk later tonight in the King of the Ring semi-finals. Jerry Lawler talks about Clinton vs. Obama in the ring later tonight as we go back to commercial.

- Back from commercial and we see the video clip of Clinton vs. Obama on WWE's SmackDown vs. RAW 2008 video game. That footage is available here on the site.

- Jim Ross promises some news on the Backlash Fatal Four Way match as we cut to highlights from the Triple H and JBL match last week where Randy Orton interfered.

- Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler announce that the Backlash main event will be an Elimination match. The three Superstars will be eliminated until one man is left and he will leave as the WWE Champion.

- We cut to a video of JBL backstage talking about himself. JBL says he will be crowned WWE Champion this Sunday and speaks on his business ventures and working for FOX and owning his own companies. JBL also shows himself on the frontpage of today's NY Times Business section.

KOTR Tournament Match: The Great Khali vs. Finlay
The Great Khali enters the arena but stops at the throne and takes a seat as we go to commercial. Back from commercial and Finlay is coming out with Hornswoggle at his side. Khali starts the match dominating Finlay.

Finlay fights back and dazes Khali some. Finlay comes off the top rope but Khali catches him and leaves him lay. Hornswoggle comes in and tries to stop Khali but Finlay stops Hornswoggle. Khali drops a big fist over Finlay's head and lays him out. Khali goes outside and slams Finlay's legs around the ring post.

The referee counts to 10 as Khali continues to slam Finlay's knees into the ringpost. Finlay wins by countout as Khali didn't break the 10 count and get back in the ring. The match ends and The Big Show makes his way to ringside.

Winner by countout: Finlay

After the match, Show enters the ring and stares down Khali, who just stands outside of the ring. Khali makes his way to the back as both men taunt each other and we go back to commercial.

KOTR Tournament Match: William Regal vs. Hornswoggle
The RAW General Manager comes out dressed to wrestle for this final King of the Ring first round match. Lilian announces Hornswoggle as Regal's opponent. Finlay holds Hornswoggle as they keep heading to the back. Regal comes out from behind and pulls Hornswoggle into the ring.

The bell rings and Regal attacks Hornswoggle, knocking him down. Regal applies the Regal Stretch on Hornswoggle and he taps out. Regal advances to the King of the Ring semi-finals.

Winner: William Regal

Finlay limps back to the ring and checks on Hornswoggle. Regal stares down Finlay and kicks him in his injured leg, knocking him down. WWE officials tend to Finlay and Hornswoggle as Regal walks to the back smiling. The remaining matches will be Finlay vs. William Regal and CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho. WWE officials continue checking on Finlay and Horny as we cut to Shawn Michaels backstage, making his way to the ring. We go back to commercial.

- Back from commercial and Shawn Michaels comes to the ring. Michaels brings up him, Flair and Batista again. HBK says he knows Batista is here tonight and says he has a question to ask him. HBK calls Batista out and finally his music hits and out comes The Animal.

HBK says last week, Jericho asked Batista a question but he didn't answer it. HBK asks if that is Batista's problem, that he wanted to be the one to retire Ric Flair at WrestleMania. Batista asks if it would make him feel better if he said yes. Batista says he can't give him that satisfaction and says this isn't about Ric anymore, it's about them two. Batista says he respects where HBK is at in his career but don't like the way he got here. Batista says he is tired of talking about it and at Backlash, he is going to finish this.

HBK says he is everything Batista says he is. He is the headliner, the showstopper, Mr. WrestleMania and he is the man. HBK talks about the blood on his hands and the casualties on the way through his career. HBK tells Batista good luck for Backlash because he is going to need it. They shake hands in the middle of the ring and HBK goes to turn around but Batista pulls him back in. They stare each other down and HBK flinches towards him again but Batista doesn't move. Batista drops the mic, walks past HBK and bumps shoulders with him. HBK stares at Batista and they exchange a glance as Batista's music hits and he makes his way to the back, stopping at the screen and locking eyes with HBK.

- Ross and Lawler plug the 8 man match tonight with Triple H, Cena, Taker and Kane vs. Edge, Chavo, JBL and Randy Orton. Up next, Hillary Clinton will address the WWE fans as we go to commercial.

- Back from commercial and we go to a video of Hillary Clinton addressing the WWE fans. Hillary says we can call her Hill-Rod. She compares the election to the King of the Ring and says the last man standing may be a woman. She makes several wrestling references to her campaign and says she will hit the People's Elbow. She says Randy Orton, don't worry because you're safe for now and says when it comes to the American people, she is ready to rumble.

Hardcore Holly vs. Carlito
The WWE Tag Team Champions come out first followed by the #1 contenders. Ross says that Carlito and Santino want to be referred to as International Superstars. Holly and Carlito lock up to start this singles match.

Holly takes control of the match early on and gets a 2 count. A series of kicks to the gut by Holly in the corner. Holly runs into Carlito's big boot but catches him in an atomic drop and a clothesline for a 2 count. Carlito takes control and grounds Holly to the mat with a series of kicks and punches.

Side slam by Carlito gets another 2 count on Holly. Carlito puts his knee in Holly's back but Holly fights to his feet with right hands. Carlito nails a big dropkick for another 2 count. Carlito continues to beat down Holly, working on his lower back. Carlito slams Holly again for a 1 count. The crowd has died at this point.

Carlito keeps working on Holly's back as the match goes on with no heat behind it at all. Holly fights back and the two trade right hands in the middle of the ring. Holly hits a big clothesline followed by a dropkick on Carlito. Holly gets Carlito on the ropes and kicks him in the stomach. Holly goes for the Alabama Slam but Carlito counters it into a Backstabber for the pinfall.

Winner: Carlito

After the match, Santino gets on the mic and tells the Champions to get used to that feeling. Santino calls Cody Holly's boyfriend. Santino says they will take those WWE Tag Titles from them soon. Rhodes gets on the mic and asks Santino if he ever shuts up. They exchange words and Cody lays Santino out with a right hand. Rhodes and Holly clean house of Carlito and Santino as the two teams talk some more trash.

- Backstage we see Chris Jericho and CM Punk heading to the ring for their semi-final King of the Ring tournament match which is next. Back to commercial.

- Back from commercial and we see a video of Triple H backstage. The Game is addressing his opponents at Backlash and says he knows he will emerge the WWE Champion, the best of the best. Triple H says it is up to them to prove him wrong.

KOTR Semi-Final Match: Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk
The WWE Intercontinental Champion makes his way to the ring first followed by the winner of the 2008 Money in the Bank match in this semi-final KOTR match.

The match starts off with Jericho taking Punk down with a side headlock getting a 1 count. Shoulder block by Jericho knocks Punk down. Punk takes down Jericho and gets a quick 1 count. Jericho and Punk lock hands but Punk hits him with a series of kicks and thrusts in the corner. Punk covers for another sloppy 1 count. Jericho fights back and drops Punk's ribs over the ropes.

Jericho blocks Punk's springboard and hits him with some more kicks, applying a knee to the back and holding it for a minute. They go back and forth until Jericho hits a hurrancanrana for a 2 count. Both men hit a series of 2 counts as Jericho locks the Walls of Jericho on but turns it into a 2 count. Another 2 count by Jericho after another big kick. Punk hits a big power slam on Jericho for a 2 count.

Punk goes for the GTS but Jericho counters with an elbow and drops Punk. Punk blocks the Lionsault with his knees but Jericho counters the reversal and locks on the Walls of Jericho and holds it in the center of the ring. Punk reaches for the ropes and finally makes it as Jericho is forced to break the hold. Jericho stomps on Punk some more. Punk tosses Jericho over the rope to the apron but Jericho comes back with punches on the apron. Jericho goes up top and gets kicked in the jaw by Punk. Punk takes Y2J off the top turnbuckle, hits the GTS and gets the pinfall for the win and move to the finals.

Winner: CM Punk

Punk celebrates and heads towards the back as Jericho gets up to his feet, holding his jaw. Punk advances to the King of the Ring finals to face the winner of the Finlay-Regal match. Up next, we will hear from Barack Obama as we go back to commercial.

- We see a promo for ECW on Sci-Fi tomorrow night where Edge will host The Cutting Edge with special guest ECW World Champion Kane.

- Barack Obama addresses the WWE fans in a video. He mentions Orton's reign may be coming to an end soon and makes reference to the election, some of the same references Hillary made kind of. Obama ends his promo with "Do you smell what Barack is cookin'?"

KOTR Semi-Final Match: William Regal vs. Finlay
RAW's General Manager comes out first followed by Finlay, who is still limping. The winner of this match will go on to face CM Punk for the title of the King of the Ring.

egal and Finlay go to the mat to start the match and Regal goes for the leg. Finlay fights him off and sends Regal to the floor. Finlay follows him outside but gets his own injured leg dropped into the steel steps. Regal gets back in the ring and awaits Finlay. Regal meets Finlay with stomps and kicks upon entering. Regal continues to work on the injured leg of Finlay.

A huge "Regal Sucks" chant breaks out as he continues to punish Finlay, working on the left leg. Finlay comes bac with right hands and throws Regal shoulder first into the ringpost. Finlay rolls him up for a 2 count. Big knee by Finlay and another 2 count. Finlay scoops Regal on his shoulders but can't hold it. Regal fights back with right hands and kicks to the leg. Finlay goes for a backslide and rolls Regal up for a 2 count.

Regal hits a big running knee to Finlay's head and locks on the Regal Stretch, putting pressure on the neck and Finlay's hurt leg. The referee rings the bell and stops the match due to Finlay's condition. in a bit of a weak ending to the match. William Regal advances to the King of the Ring finals to face CM Punk.

Winner: William Regal

- Back from commercial and John McCain is addressing the WWE fans. McCain says finally the Mac has returned, another wrestling reference. McCain makes some other wrestling references when talking about his campaign and says he is going to introduce Osama bin Laden to The Undertaker. McCain says Americans watch WWE because it is about celebrating our freedom. John asks if you can smell what the Mack is cooking. He says you might need a ticket to Backlash next Sunday, but you don't need a ticket to the cage match in November and that's the bottom line because John McCain says so.

- We go ringside with Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross, who rundown the Backlash pay-per-view card. We go backstage to a recorded video of John Cena addressing his Backlash main event opponents. Cena says the same 'ol stuff and says he too will leave Backlash as the WWE Champion.

- We go back to the arena where WWE staffers are decorating the ring with red, white and blue decorations. Lawler and Ross tell us that next we will see WWE's way of Clinton and Obama settling their differences. Back to commercial.

- Back from commercial and Lilian Garcia introduces the WWE Presidential SmackDown! Lilian introduces Hillary Clinton as a life long Hulkamaniac. Hulk Hogan's old theme music hits and out comes an impersonator Bill and Hillary Clinton. The fake Bill trips getting in the ring and both of them do the Hulk Hogan ear calls.

The fake Hillary says what ya gonna do when Hillary Clinton and her super delegates run wild on you. Her and the fake Bill goof off some more, doing th Hulk Hogan poses as the music hits again. Lilian introduces Barack Obama who comes out to The Rock's theme music. The impersonator comes out with huge ears and shakes the fans hands on the way to the ring.

The Obama impersonator gets on the mic and says finally, Barack has come back to South Carolina. He calls them rudy poo's and jabronis when talking to the Clintons. The fake Bill goes to talk to him and Obama does the "it doesn't matter what you think." He does the "if you smeeell what Barack is cookin'" line as the music hits again and they go to separate corners to start the match.

Bill is at ringside offering some comedy to the match, telling the ref Hillary hasn't had a man touch her in years. Hillary takes Barack down and hits him with some hands. The high heels come off as she kicks Barack in the stomach and scoop slams the fake Obama. She hits a big leg drop and gets a 2 count.

The Obama impersonator hits her with a knee to the gut followed by The Rock Bottom. He goes for the People's Elbow until the Bill guy on the outside trips Obama. Both the fake Hillary and Obama are down now as the referee begins his 10 count. Out comes Umaga.

: The referee calls for the bell as Umaga enters the ring. Umaga grabs the Obama guy and drops him with a Samoan Spike. Bill tries to get Hillary to come say hey to Umaga. Umaga scares Bill out of the ring, running to the back. Umaga grabs Hillary as she tries to leave the ring, scoops her up and drops her with a big Samoan Drop. Umaga yells and looks on as he stands over the two fallen Presidential candidates.

Jim Ross says this match is officially a draw and talks about the Pennsylvania voting tomorrow night. Ross plugs the 8 man main event tonight as we go back to commercial.

- Back from commercial and the WWE Divas are coming out to the ring. Maria, Kelly Kelly, Ashley, Cherry and Michelle McCool are all in the ring. Maria says they all wanted to come out here tonight because last week something happened they didn't think would happen. We go to a video of Mickie James winning the WWE Women's Title last week.

Ashley introduces the new WWE Women's Champion Mickie James, who comes out to the ring with her belt. Mickie and the other Divas celebrate her win, hugging in the ring. Mickie thanks the Divas for doing this tonight and says everyone thought she couldn't beat Beth Phoenix, but she proved them wrong last week. She keeps talking when the music hits and out comes Beth Phoenix with Melina, Jillian Hall, Victoria and Natalya Neidhart. The other 5 Divas get in the ring and Beth grabs the mic.

Beth says they came out to break up their little party. Beth says she will when her Title back. Michelle McCool steps in and slaps Beth Phoenix in the face. Beth spears her and they go to the mat brawling. The rest of the Divas get involved and it's a Divas brawl in the ring. The face Divas clear the ring of the others and Mickie's music hits as the two sides taunt each other.

King of the Ring Final Match: William Regal vs. CM Punk
The RAW General Manager makes his way to the ring first followed by ECW's CM Punk for this King of the Ring final match.

Regal and Punk go at it hard early on with Punk hitting a running knee on Regal. They go back and forth with near fall 2 counts. Punk hits a big kick to the side of Regal's head for a close 2 count. Punk scoops Regal on his shoulders for the GTS but Regal grabs the ropes and stalls the move. Regal slides out and hits a big running kick, knocking Punk down.

Regal locks on the Regal Stretch and makes CM Punk tap out to become the WWE King of the Ring.

Winner and King of the Ring: William Regal

The RAW General Manager walks up the aisle and has a seat in the throne for the King of the Ring as we go to commercial. That's it?

Randy Orton, Edge, JBL and Chavo Guerrero vs. Triple H, John Cena, The Undertaker and Kane
Back from commercial and the WWE Champion is making his way to the ring. Orton gets on the mic and says he is tired of people saying they are going to leave Backlash the WWE Champion. Orton says his actions do his talking, so he doesn't have anything to say about the Backlash match except: No Mercy, Armageddon, Survivor Series, No Way Out, Royal Rumble and WrestleMania, places where he had successful victories. Orton says he will remain WWE Champion. JBL is out next.

JBL comes out of his limo and he and Orton exchange words in the ring. Out next is Chavo Guerrero followed by Edge as we go back to commercial.

John Cena, Triple H, ECW's Champion Kane all make their way out next as we return from commercial. Out last is the World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker. Taker does his usual entrance and makes his way to the ring.

Edge and The Undertaker start the match off and go back and forth. Taker flies through the air and takes Edge out. Taker walks the ropes for Old School and nails it on Edge. He takes Edge's partners down with right hands and scares Orton off the apron as we go back to commercial.

Back from commercial and Triple H is in the ring with Edge. The Game catches Edge's Spear and drops him with a big spinebuster. Both men are down as they try and make tags. Cena comes in and goes to work on Edge, hitting a series of big moves. Cena calls for the Five Knuckle Shuffle and goes for it but Chavo pulls the ropes down and sends Cena to the floor. JBL takes a cheap shot and throws Cena back in the ring. Edge tags in Orton and they double team Cena.

Orton hits a series of right hands on Cena and tags in JBL. JBL drops Cena and gets a 2 count. Kicks to the head followed by right hands by JBL. Big short armed clothesline and another 2 count by JBL on Cena. JBL tags back in Edge who continues to wear down Cena.

Orton comes back in and gets a 2 count on Cena. Orton wears Cena down with a side headlock in the center of the ring. Cena gets to his feet and powers Orton back into the turnbuckle. Orton comes back with a big clothesline and both men are down in the ring. The ref begins his 10 count.

Kane and Chavo get tagged in and Kane cleans house of Chavo, Orton and others. Kane with a big side slam on Chavo as he climbs to the top. Kane flies off the top rope, nails Kane and gets a 2 count when JBL breaks it up. Orton and the others come in the ring as a brawl begins. Everyone brawls outside while Kane and Chavo fight inside the ring. Kane grabs Chavo on the top for the chokeslam but it gets blocked. Kane chokeslams Chavo finally but turns around to a Spear from Edge. Kane gets pinned by Edge for the win. Apparently Edge was the legal man.

Winners: Edge, Chavo Guerrero, Randy Orton and JBL

Edge turns around and gets FU'd by John Cena. Triple H and Cena go at it until JBL takes both of them out. Orton RKO's Cena and him and JBL come face to face. The Undertaker comes in, chokeslams both Orton and JBL as his music hits and he poses in the lights. RAW goes off the air with The Undertaker's music playing and him standing tall in the ring.
