Pre-Show Notes:Starting off, I hope everybody likes the newly upgraded Blog Spot. It will take some time to get used to but I'm liking it so far. The new Blog Spot has got it where you have to login in to post. So, for you impostors and trolls, ya gotta login now!!! Haha!
All I can say is wow. Over the weekend before the Super Bowl, UFC had UFC 81: Breaking Point. Breaking Point was headlined with Brock Lesnar making his debut against Frank Mir and Tim Sylvia against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira for the interim UFC Heavyweight Championship. It was my first full show because I usually just play around until the main event. I wanted to see Lesnar's debut and see if he would represent well. He came out to boos because he's a wrestling guy coming into somebody else's world. Lesnar started off great and was beating the shit out of Mir. Mir then locked in a knee bar and I guess Lesnar thought he could break free. He then tapped a minute and a half into the fight. Nogueira won his bout for the title. The Undertaker, Stone Cold, JBL and Kurt Angle were all in attendance, not to mention Barry Bonds, Jay Z, Chuck Liddell, Georges St. Pierre, and other stars. I guess the Super Bowl wasn't that big to them. Lesnar looks promising if he can just learn to stay away from those submissions. It looked to me he, pardon the pun, walked right into the knee bar. Oh, I forgot to mention Chris Lytle's knockout of Kyle Bradley. It was pretty sick.
I forgot. There was that really big game last night between the Patriots and the Giants. While I'm a Colts fan, I didn't pull that "pull for the team in your conference" crap. I wanted the Patriots to lose and lose big. They lost but not by much. Tom Brady's a pretty boy and the Patriots like to film people illegally, or so I've heard. The game started off with a long drive by the Giants, including some devastating runs by Jacobs & Bradshaw, which I love. Me being a former offensive lineman, I just love a long, grinding drive. The halftime show kicked ass mainly because I'm a Tom Petty fan. A random thought: the new Jumper movie looks cool. Since I'm going to be a coach one day, I've got to give the Giants Defensive Coordinator major props because his game plan worked well. I'm so damn happy the Giants won. I mean, I usually cheer for the underdog unless I'm involved in the game itself. Needless to say, I'm excited the G-Men won the game!
Going into tonight, I'm hoping they deliver. I don't drink the Kool Aid like some people because last week wasn't that great. There was sloppy wrestling, sloppy promos, and just a sloppy show in general. It wasn't the greatest of starts for the build to No Way Out. Hopefully tonight will be a lot better. Give me some good wrestling, good interviews/segments, and I'm a happy camper. Without further ado, RAW…IS…BLOGGED!!!
RAW started off with the announcement Mark Henry will arm-wrestle John Cena. Are they trying to screw his pectoral muscle up again? And if things can't get any better, Hornswoggle will join the "Kiss My Ass" club! I'm glad I don't have high definition. I won't get to see Vince's ass in HD, hair & pimples included!
The contract signing for the WWE Championship between Randy Orton and John Cena ensued. Cena got a giant face pop when he came on the screen and then made his entrance. Contract signings aren't much more than a stare down or some way to provoke a confrontation and if they're used right, they work well. My question is, why is Mark Henry even involved? Hi, my name is Mark Henry and I specialize in spandex and that's about it! Henry ran down and distracted Cena long enough for Orton to hit the RKO. Good way to start off RAW, minus Mark Henry.
Next up, we have Mickie James & Kelly Kelly against Beth Phoenix & Victoria. Mickie got a huge pop when she came out. Damn they looked great. Now, minus Kelly, this is a pretty talented group of ladies. Last week, they wrestled a sloppy match. There was some good wrestling but still a few sloppy spots. Mickie ended up pinning Victoria for the win. After that, she called out the Glamazon and looked like she was wanting to kick her ass. Damn they looked great.
Our next segment involved Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy and JBL talking about the Elimination Chamber match. HBK talked about his accomplishments, even touting that he sings his own theme song. I'm looking forward to this more than the Cena-Orton match. Jericho talked about headlining Wrestlemania and Hardy talked about wanting to get there. JBL came out and insulted his former home state. Oomanga came out and before he could say anything, Snitsky came out. He said he deserved to be in the Elimination Chamber match. So, he goes from doing nothing to getting an IC title match and now wanting to be in the EC match? They all started brawling and Silly Willy Regal came out and made a 6-man tag between Jericho, HBK, Hardy, JBL, Oomanga, and Snitsky. Yay! Is Triple H too busy? What's funny is he's going to be the winner of the match.
KENNEDY!!! Mr. Kennedy is supposed to end Ric Flair's career? So, he takes on Brian Kendrick one week and Super Crazy the next? How about we get Colin Delaney next week? Stuff like this drives me nuts. You're supposed to build a guy up to be able to take out the great Ric Flair by giving him these guys? Give him some credible opponents, like Carlito, or Santino, or somebody. Kennedy got on the mic afterwards and said that Flair might as well forfeit their match at No Way Out. Yeah, because last time I checked, being world champion 16-times wasn't as high as being a jobber.
Before I could finish questioning why Kennedy was fighting jobbers, Brian Kendrick & the returning Paul London, from Austin, Texas, came out for a match against Santino & Carlito. Ahh, Maria. Good match between the two teams. Carlito hit the Back Stabber/Cracker for the win. Afterwards, we go backstage to see Vince getting his ass buffed. Remember, this is the same guy that created Wrestlemania and made the WWE a global icon.
Next up is the Kiss My Ass segment with Vinny Mac and Hornswoggle. I heard somebody say in the crowd, "where's my pillow?" HAHA! Vince got on the parents in the arena about discipline. Remember, Vince wrestled both his kids at some point or another. Before Horny kisses Vinny's ass, Finlay comes on out and he has to kiss Vince's ass too. In one of the funnier segments, Hornswoggle bit Vince in the ass. Vince was of course pissed and made a match between Hornswoggle and himself next week. YAY! Funniest part had to be Finlay jumping and clicking his heels.
After that, we got a match between the returning Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch against the World Tag Team Champions, Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly. Cade & Murdoch were sporting some new ring jackets. Two tag matches in one night? Vince must be on crack or something. Good match between the two teams as Cody Rhodes hit a DDT to get the win. Afterwards, Cade & Murdoch argue and tease a break up. PLEASE NO! Carlito then announced that he and Santino were the #1 Contender's for the tag titles. Santino hit his weekly Anti-Playboy joke by saying that Rhodes & Holly have about as much chance of keeping the belts as Maria does posing for Playboy.
The sub-main event was the 6-man tag between Hardy, Michaels, Hardy, JBL, Snitsky, and Oomanga. Jeff Hardy was out first with the IC title. I wonder when he's gonna defend it again, perhaps against one of his EC opponents? Snitsky came out during the commercial and JBL was coming out afterwards. Oomaga then came on out to the ring. JBL allegedly bought Oomanga's services. I guess APA Protection is over for good. I enjoyed this match. I could live without Snitsky & Oomanga but I'll tolerate them as long as they're on the losing end. Jeff Hardy is over as over can be. He picked up the win for his team with a Swanton at the end.
Before we get to the latest adventures of Superman, Candice will return next week! I have to say, I got chills with Cena's entrance and the screaming women & children. The arm wrestling match was the last thing. Orton interfered but Cena hit the F-U on Mark Henry. Cena blocked the RKO and Orton ran away. Yay! Superman is going strong!
I give this RAW:3 out of 4 ring posts
Better show than last week but the ending can just make you want to puke.
