It’s me! Mr. McMahon's illegitimate son with another edition of RAW is Blogged!
Before we get started, a special shout out goes to the readers over on PWHeadlines.com. My blogs will now be appearing on there as well as Wrestling News World & Wrestling News.
RAW kicks off with a look back at the events of last week and the overshadowing of Mr. McMahon over all of the current storylines building up to Summerslam. The only problem with having Vinnie Mac back is he overshadows everything. So, instead of having a must-see main event at Summerslam, we get to hear about Vince's illegitimate kid. No, it's not me. That was a joke. LAUGH!
Vince came out to a mixed reaction. I miss the days when he would come out every now & then and get a HUGE face pop. Now, I must get this out of the way: Vince doesn't really have a bastard son, just like he really didn't die. Most every star on the roster was surrounding the ring. I didn't recall seeing John Cena, or Randy Orton, or a few others. Vince demands the support of the fans, which he probably won't get. He then says nothing can bother him anymore. Really? Let those ratings take a hit and we'll see how much it bothers him. The "who's your daddy?" chants reminded me of the 2004 ALCS between the Red Sox & the Yankees, when they chanted them at Pedro Martinez after he said the Yankees were his daddy. I didn't take much offense to that because as most people know, the Sox came out on top and broke the curse. Stephanie McMahon-Levesque makes her way down to the ring with a better reaction than the last time she was out there crying her eyes out. It was revealed that the bastard son was standing around the ring. Judging from that, maybe this won't be as long as the death angle was planned to be. There was a small "Ken-ne-dy" chant. Vince walked around looking at the Superstars standing around the ring and Paul London didn't have a smirk on his face like he usually does when Vince is walking. He finally left the ring and stopped at Kennedy, which got a huge pop. After all, the whole reason Mr. Kennedy is Mr. Kennedy and isn't Mr. Anderson is Paul Heyman figured it would be a good way to suck up to Vince by using Vince's real middle name. Part of me wants the child to be Big Daddy V or Mark Henry, just for kicks & giggles.
Right now, the current plan is for Kennedy to get a push based on him being Vince's bastard son. I expect a "Dad, you haven't been around" type deal where Vince feels guilty and gives Kennedy some type of push. Either way, being a Kennedy fan, I'll be happy.
As we come back from commercial break, there is a Bobby Lashley surgery package airing. Expect those two to feud whenever Lashley comes back. I've said it before and I'll say it again: in about 2-3 years, Lashley & Kennedy could be the next Stone Cold & Rock or Rock & Triple H. They will be the next two big stars.
Kennedy comes out to a pretty big pop. I know they want to have this guy as a heel. But, it's like having John Cena face with people booing him. They're trying to have Kennedy as a heel but he's getting a face reaction. Kennedy is interrupted by The Sandman, who makes his way to the ring. I guess Skittles has stopped doing ads on RAW. I miss JR going crazy over them. This was a decent match with Kennedy getting the win. I believe the finisher he used is called the "Green Bay Plunge." So, for you haters that say he doesn't have a finisher, there ya go.
We learned tonight that Vince was sexually active at age 12. Forgive me if I sound like Ron Simmons, but DAMN! I don't believe Ric Flair can be the child. For those that are wondering, they are taping Saturday Night's Main Event after RAW. That's why the gigantic screen is being used this week. It's not a new Titan Tron for RAW. The Randy Orton feature was good. This is how you build up a main event, even if you can't do other stuff.
Cryme Tyme got a gigantic reaction mainly because they're billed from Brooklyn, New York. I thought their auction for Lillian's chair was pretty funny. The guy who bought it looked like a plant, but hey, you gotta do that sometimes. I hope this turns into a feud between Cade & Murdoch and Cryme Tyme. Cryme Tyme deserves it, seeing as they won a title shot a long time ago and never used it. The Marbury jersey was a nice touch. The King is down! Bow Wow and Omarion got a pretty big pop. I didn't expect those two to be WWE fans.
Another Randy Orton package aired, except this time he was destroying Rob Van Dam. I wish they would show some of his earlier work when he was feuding with the Undertaker.
Speaking of tag teams, it's a shame that the Highlanders have been reduced to getting squashed by Snitsky. They were built up last year as a big deal and I don't really think they ever got over. Hopefully, they will be moved to Smackdown and given a fresh start.
The Vince-Cody Rhodes segment was pretty funny. He's got the lisp of Dusty, so we know he's Dusty's kid. I think it's pretty hilarious that Vince is going to sue Trojan's maxum division. Ahh, the Boogeyman! Coach's remark about Boogeyman having Vince's eyes was pretty funny. I didn't know Vince had a challenge to do it in all 50 states. Wow! That's pretty cool. I might have to try that.
I have to say the WWE Idol is freakin' hilarious. William Regal is hilarious. I hope JBL & Michael Cole got a nice pay raise tonight for the stuff they did. I honestly don't see how JBL went through that stuff. If they do segments like this each week, I will be entertained, no matter how crappy the rest of the show is. The remark about Grisham being more womanly than Ryan Seacrest was freakin' hilarious. Maria's judging of her intro was pretty funny. Mick Foley got a huge pop in front of the New York crowd and got his customary cheap pop. Mick will do almost anything for money. Jillian's pretty damn hot even though she can't sing. I thought the remark by Foley on being glad he had part of his ear ripped off was great. Maria standing for the Russian National Anthem was great, especially Regal's reaction to Maria. Finkel needs to come back and do some more announcing. I miss his announcing at Wrestlemania. The whole panel's comments were great throughout the night. I couldn't make out what Sheik said, but I did make out the words "English" and "ass." You never know what will come out of Sheik's mouth. Lillian looks so freakin' good. She can definitely sing. Listening to that is almost as painful as watching you wrestle. That was great. I'm glad Ron Simmons gets to keep the APA music. I thought the cookie monster remark was great. Santino is basically being buried. While his jealous boyfriend gimmick is ok, I wish he would go to Smackdown. Santino is ghastly!
We get another Randy Orton package, except this time, it's him destroying Dusty Rhodes. That leads into the next match with Rhodes' son involved. Cody Rhodes-Charlie Haas match was the low point of the evening. This is a match you would put on Heat. Cody does have some cool entrance music.
The coronation ceremony went as I figured. They teased a Triple H appearance, which got me going. Despite Trips not showing up, at least their match for Summerslam was announced. I do enjoy when Booker goes off and starts acting like a thug. I think the whole ceremony took a little too much time. It was good though to get the crowd amped up for Triple H's return. The last time he returned was at Madison Square Garden, so I figured they would have done that again. The crowd was really down about not getting to see Triple H.
Randy Orton made his way out and told the truth about Cena being the longest reigning champ in a long time. Most people know my feelings on Cena and yes, it's time for a change. The last time Cena was pinned for the championship was June 3, 2006, at ECW One Night Stand in a great match with Rob Van Dam. I personally loved that match and I watched it this past weekend. I did like Orton's remark about being a hero to people who hate Cena. That's a majority of the people I know. Cena is a guy that's the face of the company and he's really limited when it comes to his matches. He could probably wrestle toe-to-toe with the best of them, but the creative team limits his moves.
The main event was good. Cena got his typical mixed reaction. I trust you guys heard the "Let's Go Cena" and "Cena Sucks" chants. Umaga got a great reaction when he got the hot tag. The match was pretty good and was probably better live. Cena, of course, got the win with the FU on Carlito. The only thing with this ending is, I personally feel a wrestling show should end with a match. Instead, we get to watch Vince talk and have Linda finally appear behind him. I'm expecting the child to be revealed next week. I figure they'll give a list of possible people this Saturday on SNME. It will be interesting to see who it is, even though we're pretty sure it's Mr. Kennedy.....KENNEDY!
