First off, last week was great and I enjoyed my "break" from writing RAW is Blogged. I watched RAW but it wasn't that great. The product isn't that great right now. I'm not talking about just one or two angles. The overall product is horrible right now.
Next up, the Red Sox won last night and I enjoyed that game. For the haters, Boston is in the World Series again!
Another sports related note is my school, Georgia Southern, beat Appalachian State this weekend up at their place, 38-35. We really dominated most of the game and were up by 18 with 9 minutes to go when all of their fans started leaving. The reason I mention this was so much was made when App. State beat Michigan this year. Then, we went up to their place and kicked their ass.
One other sports related note is since my Colts were on Monday Night Football, I watched most of the game and wrote the blog afterwards. I know there's some people that will be mad that I watched the game for the most part rather than RAW, but hey, it's my prerogative. Without further a do, RAW…IS…JERICHO…I mean, BLOGGED!!!
The Kennedy-Hardy promo was great. Not to sound like a mark, but I was hanging on every word of Kennedy. He was great comparing the wrestlers to political candidates. Who said Jeff Hardy couldn't cut a promo? This was what, his first promo? He kicked major ass. The four way brawl was good and I enjoyed the segment, the parts that I saw at least.
I didn't see much of the 6-person tag match mainly because I saw the entrances, flipped it to the game, and when I went back, it was over. London, Kendrick, and Mickie were having their hands raised and that was it. Too freakin' short for some of the best workers in the company. I tune into see go wrestling, not short matches by the some of the more talented guys.
After this match, we got a bunch of segments. It all started with Shawn Michaels questioning Jeff Hardy's allegiance for the tag match later. Jeff once again got to talk and it was pretty damn good. I'd rather hear Jeff Hardy than John Cena. Next up was a segment between Cody Rhodes and the World's Greatest Tag Team. It was actually good and these guys that "can't cut a promo" are kicking some ass. I'd rather hear them more often. After that, Regal and Coach made a whole hoopla and match with Hornswoggle and Umaga. Yeah, that's something I was dying to see. MNF or Umaga-Hornswoggle? DAMN THAT'S A HARD CHOICE!!!
Next up was the match between Cody Rhodes and Shelton Benjamin. It ended with a double team on Rhodes with Holly making the save. Holly and Rhodes are supposed to be a tag team eventually. I'll enjoy that as long as the other teams on RAW are involved.
The next match was the debut of Harry, now known as DH Smith. So much for the Hart Foundation but maybe they'll do it in some capacity. Apparently some stuff went on during the UK tour between Smith and Carlito and it was played out on WWE.com. Since WWE.com is full of a bunch of crap, I don't visit it much. But, Smith had a good debut and got the win over Carlito. His music sounded a little like British Bulldog's old music. Hopefully this will come into something good. Personally, I would like a stable with Cody Rhodes, DH Smith, and Randy Orton. Their dad's were wrestlers and I honestly think that would be a good idea. There's some other 2nd or 3rd generation stars that could be included but those 3 are the ones that come to mind right off the bat.
Beth Phoenix and Candice Michelle were shown backstage, nose to nose. I was waiting on them to kiss to be honest with you. They talked about getting on their knees and if you're a male, the first thing that comes to mind is well, you know. A 2-out-of-3 falls match? I don't know if I can stomach that.
Next up was the Hornswoggle-Umaga, must see, Match of the Century! A funny thing they could have done, since Hornswoggle is a McMahon, was have him pull out a cell phone and "make a call." Theoretically, backstage Triple H would answer and then come out and beat Umaga's ass. I must say, during halftime, I saw that brawl and that was the best pull-a-part brawl I've ever seen. The only thing missing was a few expletives, maybe a taser, and some cops and some pepper spray. They kicked ass in that segment and should be commended.
After the commercial was some mess about the Diva Search. To be honest, I don't really care too much for that. Christy Hemme is in TNA. Ashley is off doing something. Layla is wasting time on ECW. None of them have really panned out in the WWE. I would have liked to have Lena win because she's hot with some nice abs, but she got eliminated. Eve is hot and I would rather her win because we've already got a Brooke in the company. The Diva Stuff is a waste of time.
The segment between Orton and Kennedy was good. I have to disagree with Orton about people not liking Kennedy. Kennedy might as well be a face with the reactions he gets.
After that, there was a little deal between Santino & Ron Simmons. When is Stone Cold going to come and kick Santino's ass? He's pretty funny but no, he's not the Rock yet. His in-ring ability is nowhere near the Rock right now. He's got decent promos but they're not near the Rock's. I don't want to hear that shit about him being like The Rock. Honestly, whoever says that is full of shit. Simmons won by DQ. While Santino was talking, some Save_Us.222 aired and I'm hoping Y2J comes back this Sunday.
I didn't catch much of the Women's Championship match. I did flip it back in time to see Candice land right on the top of her head and it looked like her shoulder popped out. I did hear the ref say "this is it, this is it" before he counted the 3. He then through up the "X" and I'm sure most of you saw what happened. Candice did have this look on her face like she was about to puke everywhere. I've landed like that before in football practice. I twisted my ankle in a very sick way and had that feeling that I was going to barf my guts out. It's not a good feeling. As JR said, that's the risk you take when you go up to the top rope.
The main event was strong. I'll give them that. There was a good psychology going of Orton not wanting to get in and wanting the other 3 to just beat the hell out of each other. That was great. I like Hardy getting the win and Michaels delivering the superkick. It will be interesting this Sunday. I would like to know who actually wins the vote. We all know HBK will be the one challenging for the title. The only thing I wish is if they could fit an IC title match in there somewhere. The Kennedy-Hardy feud is good. Imagine that. Both Hardys, MVP, and Kennedy being involved in great feuds. Yes, I did think those 4 were the future of the company, along with Lashley.
I give this RAW:
3 out of 4 ring posts
A few good segments here & there but there's still room for improvement.
