Before I get to my Unforgiven picks, I wanted to address a few suspensions & releases as well as Hornswoggle McMahon.
First off, to my knowledge, King Booker has quit the WWE. When they cracked down on the Wellness Policy, part of it was the testing for marijuana. Booker was outspoken about this new change. He then was informed he would be suspended for 60 days for some undisclosed reasons. Prior to that, as many know, Booker has an indy promotion, PWA, in Houston, Texas. After DSW closed, Booker was hoping his promotion would be used for the new developmental territory. WWE Officials then banned the use of WWE talent in the promotion, so Booker used some TNA talent. After all that, it was announced that Florida Championship Wrestling would be used as the new developmental promotion and not PWA. Needless to say, all of this has had a factor in what's going on with Booker. WWE is working as if Booker is done with the company. So, if he hasn't signed a new contract extension, I would expect him to unfortunately go to TNA. I highly doubt it happens, but nobody expected Angle to go to TNA.
Next, the recent release of Sandman came as a surprise to me. There's been a recent lawsuit between a WWE fan and the guy that plays Sandman. She alleges that at an ECW TV event, during Sandman's entrance, he came, picked her up, and threw her around. WWE released the footage for the courts to see and I saw no evidence that he picked up a woman and threw her around. The most violence I saw between Sandman and the fans was he stepped over some guys. None the less, whoever ruled in that trick's favor needs their head examined. Now, it's time for some Unforgiven picks!
As for Hornswoggle McMahon, after thinking about it, it's pretty funny. They left it open for Kennedy to come back and be the kid. They can do it where Triple H found out it was Kennedy but he didn't like it, so he switched the DNA tests. Or, they could have a doctor come out and say the DNA samples got mixed up. There's endless ways they can correct their, to some people, mistake. I don't mind it being Hornswoggle after the ending segment. I laughed my ass off for a good 15 minutes. What I do mind is how they didn't do a bunch of build up to Unforgiven. Vince overshadowed everything. I just hope he shifts everything to Smackdown because after this week's show, they'll need it.
Women's ChampionshipCandice Michelle © vs. Beth Phoenix
I figured I would start off with the women's match that doesn't give me that joy of happiness during a PPV. Beth Phoenix hasn't been built up much except for beating up a few Divas. What they should have done was have her face each of the RAW Divas before she won the #1 Contender's Battle Royal. Instead, she won the battle royal and then messed around for a few weeks. Needless to say, I've given Candice plenty of time to improve and she has. But, I just can't get up for some techno music and a lack luster match.
My Projected Winner: Beth Phoenix
WWE Tag Team ChampionshipMVP & Matt Hardy © vs. Deuce 'N Domino
The best feud in the WWE has gotten a little more interesting. MVP reminds me of Cena when Cena won the World Tag Team Championships with Shawn Michaels. Although I don't like it when a guy holds more than one belt, MVP deserves this one. I'm expecting MVP to walk out on Matt Hardy to give Deuce 'N Domino the win & the belts. Then again, what would really be cool is if MVP walked out and Hardy still won the match. That would be a pretty interesting twist. I'd rather watch this feud than most of the other ones in the WWE right now. I'll be glad when the Highlanders get to Smackdown and they can get established.
My Projected Winner: MVP & Matt Hardy
World Tag Team ChampionshipCade & Murdoch © vs. London & Kendrick
These belts should have been defended last month at Summerslam. Reports stated that these two teams took part in the dark match and pretty much stole the show before it even started. People said they looked like they were out there just having fun. I'm expecting these two teams to tear down the house. A good tag team feud is what these belts need right now. The Hardys and Cade & Murdoch had a good feud then it was like the belts were abandoned. I hope these two feud for a while. They will probably have to because the Highlanders are supposed to go to Smackdown, Cryme Tyme was released, and Shelton will be getting a singles push due to Haas' suspension.
My Projected Winner: Cade & Murdoch
Triple H vs. Carlito
Well, I hate that Carlito is the next victim of Triple H's return tour. Trips has taken some shots at Carlito in the past, so if Triple H goes over in this match, I won't be surprised. I didn't care too much for Carlito's new hair cut. I wish he would braid it one time. I know it's probably taken him a while to grow that out. Triple H will end up feuding with Mr. Kennedy some time when Kennedy comes back. I'm expecting him to win so it will lead to a title shot against Cena or Orton.
My Projected Winner: Triple H
The Undertaker vs. Mark Henry
The return of the Deadman. I must say the promos and stuff have been great over the past few weeks. Did you hear the one about the man who can't be destroyed? Those were some good promos. I loved the ones with Kane when he came back at Wrestlemania 20. Those were great. Instead of the druids every time, I wish they had done the burning cross or the ring shaking or even the rain stuff. I do wish Mark Henry hadn't signed his extension. I was looking forward to seeing limited spandex on Smackdown. Undertaker should come back and run over Mark Henry like Triple H ran over King Booker. After this though, I hope 'Taker gets involved in the title picture so Khali will stop ruining it.
My Projected Winner: The Undertaker
ECW ChampionshipCM Punk © vs. Elijah Burke
September 4th was a great day in my opinion. I know Punk won the belt a few days earlier, but still. Punk has finally gotten the belt and I hope the creative team is taking notes backstage. Punk got a huge pop on Tuesday when he came out. He finally got to talk and the heel-face promo with Burke was better than anything Morrison has done with Punk. Instead of nails on a chalk board with Punk-Morrison, it's actually "pleasant" in a way with Punk & Burke. Most people know that Burke is Punk's bitch. There's no denying that when they needed somebody to get beat by Punk, they always looked at Burke to take the fall. Burke is a good talent. He can talk and he can wrestle. Punk can talk & wrestle. Give me this feud until next year's Summerslam and I'll be quiet happy. The key thing in any feud is to not give the people too much. That's like the McMahon Illegitimate Kid storyline. It was on every show and I got tired of it. With the Cena-Orton stuff, it's a little here & there and I'm craving it. But, I believe Punk will keep the belt for a while.
My Projected Winner: CM Punk
World Heavyweight ChampionshipThe Great Khali © vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Batista
This match isn't what would draw me to buy this event if I was considering buying it. Last month's match between Khali & Batista flat out sucked. It's amazing how within a few weeks of coming back, Mysterio is getting a title shot. He & Batista will single-handedly save this match from totally sucking. I'm expecting a heel turn by Batista on Mysterio. Anytime two guys are friendly with each other, it's more than certain that somebody is turning on somebody. Khali is Khali. He gets no faith in me for drawing power. Last year or the year before, or whenever the hell they had the Punjabi Prison Match, that was about the only draw Khali could get. We knew he sucked back then and he hasn't improved. Oh yeah, he got the Claw but that doesn't matter too much. Batista is worst than Cena. He's been in every World Heavyweight Championship match the past year. Batista is boring but I think he'll finally get the belt and feud with Mysterio. Somebody fire Khali, please.
My Projected Winner: Batista
WWE ChampionshipJohn Cena © vs. Randy Orton
What sucked about Summerslam is, like an idiot, I paid money and saw John Cena retains. If John Cena wins, he'll have held the belt for 364 days. He'll just need to walk in the next night on RAW and just not lose the belt. Then, Cena will have held the belt for a full year. That doesn't make anybody more sick than it does me. Is it a safe thing to say that I hate John Cena being booked to run over everybody? Yes, it's true. I've gone from the "Cena can't wrestle" to "Cena runs over everybody because of the creative team." A lot has happened in the past year but two things have stayed the same. Cena is WWE Champion and Batista is still in the World Heavyweight Championship picture. I've realized that Cena isn't being helped wrestling wise because the creative team has ultimate say-so over what moves he does. Orton is the king of rest holds. Regardless of being a 3rd generation star, parts of his matches are so damn boring. There's a difference in putting a guy in a sleeper hold and putting a guy in a rest hold so you can regain some stamina. I watched the entire match between CM Punk & Samoa Joe at Joe vs. Punk II. Punk did some sleeper holds in the match but he was actually wearing Joe down. Orton seems like he's doing them because he's got nothing else to do. He can pull over a drop kick. He can pull off a kick to the head. He can even pull off the RKO. It's time to expand this guy's move set. On that note, I'm not wasting any money on this event mainly because I don't want to be screwed over again and I don't have $40 to blow on a PPV. For the love of God, I hope Orton wins.
My Projected Winner: Randy Orton
