Excess - Triple H, ECW, More

One thing I love about being in college is I can get on the computer and write whenever I want. It's late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning and I figured I would start on my Excess blog.

This week has been a revelation so to speak, in more ways than one. I've learned a lot of things about the business and about certain people that have made me pretty sick.

It's no doubt that Unforgiven was probably the worst PPV of the year. I've never been a fan of the tri-brand PPVs, except for the big 4, because it causes feuds to be rushed. If this was last year, we wouldn't have had Punk vs. Burke on the Unforgiven PPV, mainly because it was a RAW only event. Instead of having a bunch of different feuds from the same show, we have a bunch of different ones from different shows and a lot of guys get shoved to the back or even fired. Hang with me now.

If this year's Unforgiven had been a RAW-only event, we would have gotten some decent matches. We would have had the WWE title match between Cena & Orton. We would have had an IC title match between Hardy and probably Benjamin. We would have had the tag title match between Cade & Murdoch and London & Kendrick. We would have had the Women's title match between Beth Phoenix & Candice Michelle. We would have had the burial of Carlito by Triple H. That's only five matches, but hold on. Santino & Ron Simmons could have had some type of match or challenge. Daivari & Cody Rhodes could have had their little feud continue. Throw in some backstage segments & interviews and you've got a brand-only event.

I realize that the rosters are depleted with the suspensions and all of that will be over October 1st. But, the bullshit I saw at Unforgiven was exactly what I just said, bullshit. Some people will sit there and say, "if you don't like it, don't watch it." Well, it's harder than that. I would liken smoking to watching wrestling. It's just something you can't turn off and turn on. I've watched wrestling for a long time now. I've gotten into more of the athletic matches than the entertainment crap I get in WWE. Every Monday night, I'm usually watching RAW and that continues throughout the week with ECW, TNA, and sometimes Smackdown. It's not something you can just stop doing. Honestly, think of your favorite drink or food or show or whatever and just stop consuming it for a month or two. Hell, try doing it for a day. It's not that easy.

My whole point in saying that is, yes, I bitch about what I see on WWE programming. I have a right to. I'm a customer of WWE and it's the customer's right to bitch and complain if they don't like what they see. You go to a ball game and you don't like what you see on the field, you'll probably complain.

Moving back to Unforgiven, it was the biggest waste of the 20 minutes I read the results ever. I had some prior engagements to attend to so I didn't watch or listen to Unforgiven or follow the play-by-play on any of the web sites. So, let's take a look at Unforgiven.

CM Punk and Elijah Burke opened things up with a pretty good match. I wouldn't have started off the show with these two but I'm not running things. Next up was the hottest feud in the WWE between MVP & Matt Hardy taking on Deuce 'N Domino. I don't know who's booking this feud but it's the best thing going right now. I'll save Triple H for last. The Women's title match was ok and it gave us an unexpected outcome. I didn't give Candice Michelle a snow cone's chance in hell of winning. Batista then won the World Heavyweight Championship, finally, in a match that was barely 8 minutes. Regardless of who's involved, a world title match should be at least 15 minutes long. Next up was, to some the match of the night, for the tag titles between Cade & Murdoch and London & Kendrick. I didn't see this match but I know these two teams put on a show. Next up was the biggest crock of shit ever. When your main title is defended in a match that was only 5 seconds longer than the women's title match, I've got a big fucking problem. The outcome was horrendous. They could have still done the DQ except with a chair or something. Have Squeaky Clean Cena destroy Orton with a steel chair about 20 times. That will get the DQ finish in and get Cena the heat he deserves. Then, Undertaker returned and I don't know how many more times he can return from the dead. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Undertaker fan, but damn. You can only rise from the dead so many times.

I saved Triple H for last because this dude has made me sick. I've lost most of the respect I've had for this guy and he's not even being shoved down our throats. First of all, I know he knocked Carlito in WWE Magazine a few months ago but that's no excuse to just go out and demolish any credibility Carlito had. Carlito used to be a credible heel when his bodyguard "stabbed" John Cena and he was just a complete asshole to everybody. Now, he might as well be a jobber with a funny haircut. It's crazy that he once held the IC title and now he's Triple H's bitch. My gripe with Trips doesn't end there. The next night on RAW, he destroys the tag champions. What does this prove? Triple H isn't Snitsky. Triple H isn't somebody who needs to work to get over with the fans. Hell, we all saw when his intro played and he didn't come out, he was still over without making an appearance. Why even have tag champs if they're going to be destroyed by Cena & Triple H within a few months? It's pointless. It's one thing to have a tag team destroyed by 3 other guys, but just one? What made it worse was London & Kendrick came out and got destroyed by Triple H. Did I miss something here, but didn't this guy make it clear he doesn't mind putting over young talent? Is he full of more bullshit or am I? Don't answer that. Trips is making it easier for people to pin the label on him that he just married into the company and he can do what he wants. I thought Kurt Angle was bad by holding all of the belts but at least he lost clean to Jay Lethal.

Speaking of more bullshit, ECW just got a whole lot worse. Word came Wednesday afternoon that Marcus Cor Von had been released. Hmmm. Hello!? This guy could have been something special. I don't know what happened backstage but it sucks.

As I watched ECW, I seriously asked myself why the hell was I watching the show. Big Flabby V and The Boogeyman was the main event? First off, the Elimination Chase is genius, especially since it's been on the Smackdown vs. RAW video game and this is the first time they've used it. That should have been your main event. You start the show off with Flabby V against Boogeyman and get that BS out of the way. Right after that, you have your 4-man segment with the announcement of the Elimination Chase. It pains me to say it, but you actually have Mike Knox, who showed up out of nowhere last week, against Balls Mahoney with Extreme Useless outside watching. Your main event is the Fatal 4-Way match. Before it begins, to make things interesting, you have CM Punk come out and join the commentary team. He was hilarious in ROH doing commentary. Is it that hard or is booking a show really rocket science? I know I'm a Punk fan but we got what, 15 seconds of him Tuesday? He's your champion! He should be out there the most, not the damn Miz. Since Burke got the win, you have a stare down between Burke & Punk. You could even have Thorn and Burke jump Punk with Dreamer making the save. After Dreamer makes the save, he turns on Punk because he wants the title, too. You've created the feeling that the champ isn't safe from anybody. Really, is it that hard to do? I realize ECW is your breeding ground, but when you've got a guy that useless as tits on a boar hog (special quote from my dad) and a guy that's so damn uncomfortable cutting a promo, it doesn't look like they care very much about ECW. By the way, I was talking about Boogeyman, Big Flabby V, and John Morrison. If they don't change ECW soon and give it some new characters, the ratings will go down. I'm a loyal fan but I can only stomach so much bullshit in a week.

Speaking of BS, judging from the spoilers, we get to see the wedding between Theodore R. Long and Kristal. If any of you have any sense of what goes on during a WWE wedding, there's a 100% things won't go right. Seriously, I've never seen a wedding during WWE TV go as planned. Also from the spoilers, the Atlanta crowd crapped all over everything with a "We Want Wrestling" chant. I'm glad crowds keep chanting this. Maybe one day, Vince will get his head out of his ass and realize people don't want bullshit all of the time. Judging from my blog, the word of the week is bullshit. Feel free to use it during your everyday conversations.

ROH Update:
ROH is off until they head to Boston on October 5th. They've currently got a faction war going on and it's looking pretty damn cool. It's something that's been seven months in the making. First off is the No Remorse Corps containing Roderick Strong, Davey Richards, and former Rottweiler member Rocky Romero. Next up is the Resilience with members Austin Aries, Matt Cross, and Erick Stevens. Up next is the dark faction called The Age of the Fall with members Jimmy Jacobs, Tyler Black, Lacey, and Necro Butcher. They have a web site at ageofthefall.com. After them is the hip hop group, The Vulture Squad. Members of the Squad include Jumpin' Jack Evans, Julius Smokes, Ruckus, and a new member to be announced at the Boston show. Next up is the big guy group, The Hangmen Three. Members of this faction are "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce, "The Shooter" Brent Albright, BJ Whitmer, and Shane Hagadorn. The final faction is Sweet & Sour Inc. which is lead by agent Larry Sweeney. Members of this group are Chris Hero, SHIMMER Champion Sara Del Rey, Tank Toland, and Bobby Dempsey. If you need any help in figuring all of this out, I suggest visiting rohwrestling.com!
