First off, I hate that Cena got injured. I would never wish for a guy to get hurt, unless I was playing against him & he was a complete jackass. I just hate that he couldn't get pinned to lose the belt. Cena hasn't been pinned cleanly for the belt since January of 2006 at New Year's Revolution. Cena was a great source of revenue because most women & children purchase Cena gear. I went to a Smackdown/ECW house show back in June and everywhere I looked, there was Cena gear. That aspect will be missing for the company. I do believe that the ratings may come back up because the 18-34 male demographic, the one that all shows want, has gone down during Cena's reign because people got tired of him always winning and carrying the belt. Despite his limits in the ring, Cena was a money maker & somebody you would want as the face of your company. You may be thinking, "Luke, I thought you hated Cena?" Well, I don't hate Cena. I respect the man. As a fan, I never want him to win. As a businessman, I would always want Cena to win and have him out there for everybody to see. I've learned some stuff in college. But, moving on, the year 2007 is filled with irony. When one guy returns, another gets hurt. Undertaker comes back, Cena gets hurt. Kennedy returned, Edge got hurt or somewhere close to Kennedy's return. 2007 has sucked for the WWE. I'm ready for 2008 to get here.
Now, let's get to some No Mercy predictions!
WWE ChampionshipThis is a hard match to call mainly because we don't know what's going to happen. I've said my piece on John Cena. Now, it's a guessing game. Will Y2J return? Who will be in the match? Who will win the belt? I'm guessing Randy Orton will definitely be involved. I mean, why build him up these past few months and not include him? Who else will be involved is a mystery. They could do a thing where the winner's of the matches from RAW would square off, along with Orton, to decide the new champion. That would be the TNA thing to do and I would do it, too. I just hope they don't do a royal rumble to crown the new champ. I don't think this will be your main event because the main selling point on the ads I've seen is the Punjab Prison match. They could do a deal where the two men that "injured" Cena take part which would be Kennedy & Orton. They could have Y2J debut and take part in the match, but I doubt it happens. The only way that would work is if Y2J compete against Orton and Orton won it by cheating. You don't want to ruin a guy's debut or somebody who's been on a hot streak. All fingers point to whoever takes part, Orton will come away as the new WWE Champion. I just hope they get rid of that POS spinner belt.
My Projected Winner: Randy Orton
World Heavyweight ChampionshipPunjab Prison MatchBatista © vs. The Great KhaliI saw the first Punjab Prison match and it wasn't that great. Khali's enzyme level rose or some crap and it was Big Show who took his place. The ending was weak as both men were supposed to fall out on the floor at the same time. Moving on, I hope they have plenty of weapons in this and Khaliflower doesn't have to do much wrestling. I've heard the rumors that Edge should be coming back at the PPV. I've also seen the poster that he'll be "breaking in" the cage with a chain saw. That's a little extreme but it would be cool to see. I've always wanted to see somebody break into a steel cage with wire cutters or something. The only thing is with Edge returning, if it happens, the way things are going, somebody might go down. I don't know who's been around the longest out of the main event guys that hasn't returned. Orton might be that guy. As for the match, this one will be a stinker. For the second straight month, the main event will probably suck. I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy the return of the Deadman, but the arena was very quiet during the match. I don't see Khali gaining the belt back any time soon. As a matter of fact, I hope he never wins a title for the rest of his career except for the Women's Championship. I hear they could always use another freak show as a wrestler.
My Projected Winner: Batista
ECW ChampionshipCM Punk © vs. Big Flabby VI'm glad nobody saw me Tuesday night when Flabby V ruined Tommy Dreamer's moment. The ending to ECW absolutely sucked. I can't put it any better. It's gotten to where I tune into see Punk, maybe Extreme Expose's outfits for the night, and I turn it. ECW is starting to suck big time to where the hardcore-est of fans won't tune in. Punk is finally getting to cut promos but he's not to the ROH level he used to be at. I will go on record in saying, if Flabby V wins the belt, I won't watch ECW for a long time. If I was booking this match, I would give Punk the win by DQ. Flabby V would dominate most of the match with Punk getting very little offense in. I wouldn't have Punk pull a John Cena and make a miraculous come back. If Punk was heel, it would be a whole lot easier to have him win dirty. So, they can do this a few ways. Punk can get counted out, but still retain. Flabby V can continue dominating Punk and get DQed with Punk retaining. Punk can go after Matt Striker and get the win by DQ. Punk can go after Striker, get knocked out, and get counted out. Knowing the WWE, they'll have Flabby V win clean, thus ruining the title even more than when Vince McMahon had it. It's bad enough we have to see that jelly moving around. If anybody from the WWE reads this, please don't give Flabby V the belt. Please.
My Projected Winner: CM Punk
WWE Tag Team ChampionshipMVP & Matt Hardy © vs. Brothers of DestructionThis is an interesting match. What's weird is just after main eventing a PPV, 'Taker is going for the tag belts. These two have held the titles before. I hope this is a long-term move for the tag belts on Smackdown. They desperately need some credibility restored to them. London & Kendrick made the worth while, then the Greasers won them & the belts took a backseat. I'm hoping the Brothers of Destruction win the belts so MVP & Matt Hardy can continue their feud for the United States Championship. I'm thinking though at Cyber Sunday, MVP & Matt Hardy will compete in some competition and if Hardy wins, he'll get a shot at the belt at Survivor Series, which he'll win. The interesting element is the rekindling of the MVP-Kane feud. I'm thinking the Brothers win.
My Projected Winner: Brothers of Destruction
Women's ChampionshipCandice Michelle © vs. Beth PhoenixI really don't care too much about this match. Candice isn't that great looking compared to some of the other Divas. Does she have a good body? Yes. Does she have a good face? No. Phoenix is hot. She is a Glamazon. She can wrestle and she's hot. I'm ready for a Mickie-Beth feud. So, let's give the belt to Beth and get rid of Candice for a while.
My Projected Winner: Beth Phoenix
Triple H vs. UmagaWell, I'm not a huge fan of this match because in the process, Carlito was buried. People may think all I do is whine about people getting buried, but if you were in their shoes and you were being fed to Triple H like this, you would be pissed, too. A lot of other people agree with me that people come to RAW and get fed to Triple H or John Cena. That's one thing I hate about RAW. It's not like you're going to get beat by Randy Orton or something. These two destroy people & their careers. I can't fault Cena for anything because he busts his ass. Triple H on the other hand has busted his ass, but now that he's got power, you're career is over. Umaga just got back this week and instead of making this a match we want to see, Triple H got the upperhand and didn't make Umaga look any better. I can't see Umaga winning this match but I can't see Triple H winning either. Hell, his first loss was to VINCE MCMAHON! Is Linda going to come back in a career vs. career match against Trips? Needless to say, I could care less about this match. For the sole fact that Triple H has rubbed me the wrong way since returning, I'm pulling for Umaga.
My Projected Winner: Umaga
Rey Mysterio vs. FinlayI don't really get up for this match. It's an interesting concept with JBL some how involved. Some people have pointed that JBL will be returning to the ring. I doubt that happens because there's not really anybody to replace him. For some reason, Mysterio went from competing against Chavo Guerrero to getting a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship to compete with Finlay. It shows how inconsistent the storylines are. Finlay deserves a shot at the belt and even a short reign, maybe 2-3 months.
My Projected Winner: Finlay
