Excess - Masters, Smith, More

After the Benoit Incident and everything else, the wellness policy of the WWE has been placed under the proverbial microscope. I've read a lot of the articles pertaining to wrestlers receiving letters from the congressional committees that want to investigate the WWE. I didn't get to see the CNN documentary the other night but from what I heard, it didn't paint a pretty picture of the wrestling industry. It got me thinking. What drives these guys to continue doing this type of stuff? Is it the drive to be famous and be a big star?

Chris Masters and DH Smith were the first victims of the new part of the wellness policy where the names of the ones failing tests were disclosed. Why in the hell would somebody risk getting embarrassed? I honestly can't say. It's one of those things that you can do it, not get caught, get a big reward, but in the end reap the consequences. Or, it's one of those things you can do, get caught, and look like a total jackass. It's like cheating on a test. I'm sure all of us have done it. I know I have. I used to make a sheet with the answers written very small. I would slip it under my answer sheet so the teacher wouldn't see it. Yeah, I may have made a good grade but I felt guilty for cheating. Now that I'm in college, I don't do it for the risk of getting kicked out and looking like a complete dumbass. In case you're wondering, dumbass is a few levels above jackass.

Back to the whole point, do these guys think this is going to help them become a big star? The wrestling business is based on having the "look" and being able to talk. After all, we know the Great Khali isn't the greatest wrestler in the world but he's got the "look" and he can talk, even though we have no damn clue about what he's saying. I believe this is Chris Masters' third suspension, which should call for him being fired. He must be retarded in the head to continue taking banned supplements and getting caught. I mean, 3 times? Are you serious? He's still on the payroll? I'm trying to figure out why he's doing it. He's still doing the Master Lock Challenge and it's not like he's getting the push of a lifetime. He's just a mid-carder jobbing to the main event guys. Just as soon after I had written that statement, I checked on WNW and saw that Masters had finally been released. All I can say is, it's about time!

The other guy that's been made public was DH Smith. When I first saw this guy on Hogan Knows Best (yes, I watch that show) I immediately thought he was on something. Looking like that isn't natural unless you're a gym rat like I used to be. If I'm one of the veteran guys who didn't take anything, and there aren't many, I would lose respect for that kid. The WWE botched his debut. He looked like a jobber who somehow got some mic time before his match. Now, this suspension might be a ploy to fix his debut or I could be looking into nothing.

If it was me, I would have had him do a training montage. If Pacman Jones can do a training montage before his debut, DH Smith can too. Another thing is have him talking about his father, Davey Boy Smith, who also did steroids, and the Hart Family. He could talk about the history of the family and what it means to be a Hart. Mix that in with him throwing around a few opponents and you'd have me hooked & ready to see him debut. They need to give him Bulldog's old British rock-type music.

Moving on, the Smackdown-ECW talent exchange isn't working out like I thought it would. Yeah, I like seeing the Cruiserweights on ECW. They should really make ECW the home of the Cruiserweights and the title. I didn't care too much for the big guy battle royal. That much lard in a ring can make a person throw up. CM Punk can only feud with John Morrison for so long. Now that they've thrown Miz into the mix, I'm just clicking my heels. I hope everybody got the sarcasm on that one.

One thing I wouldn't mind seeing is MVP get involved with CM Punk for a while. Why they don't do that stuff, I don't know. I have to remind myself, along with you, that there is no logic on the creative team. I've said it before and I'll say it again, none of you idiots that *think* you know wrestling are correct about Punk's promo ability. Until he's given the opportunity to say something other than that scripted bullshit the creative team writes for him, he won't get to shine. People say they don't care about his stuff in ROH. Well, that's Vince's handy work. He's gotten everybody "brainwashed" so they only think of his show as the real deal. Let me tell you this. For you little know-it-alls out there, if you want some good stuff, I suggest you check out ROH. Don't just watch one show or a clip and think it's garbage. Speaking of which, it's about time for me to get on a soap box. If you don't know what that is, you should get out of your sheltered life and look it up.

I'm about sick and damn tired of you guys that bash Ring of Honor. You have no damn clue about what you're talking about. I hear about how they don't have any big guys and they can't wrestle and they don't have a good show and on & on & on. The reason for this is you guys are so used to seeing dudes on steroids, or at least look like they've been taking a needle in the ass, and you're used to seeing HORRIBLE storylines. You flip on ROH, if you even give it a chance before bashing it, and you see quality wrestling and quality feuds. I've heard from some people that the ROH belt doesn't mean anything. Are you kidding me? A belt that doesn't mean anything would be on in the WWE, take your pick. The ROH belt was defended around the world and in some of the best matches ever. I guess it's my taste being different from most everybody else's. Until you give it a shot, maybe 2-4 shows, don't knock it.

Back to the topic, MVP and Punk could have a good feud if given the chance. They want MVP to be the man on Smackdown. I think it would be cool if he would go over to ECW and take over for a while, then go back to Smackdown and challenge for the title. If not that, have Punk go over to Smackdown and challenge for the US title. This whole talent exchange is gonna screw everything up as far as the brand extension is concerned. I'm still a fan of the brand extension and I think it can still thrive. One thing to do is overhaul the creative staff.

We all have to thank the Diva of the Creative Team, Stephanie McMahon-Whatever, for the stuff we're seeing on TV. I mean, Hornswoggle against The Great Khaliflower? Are you kidding me? There's so much inconsistency on the creative team and in the storylines. Just look at RAW. One week, the Highlanders come down and jump London & Kendrick after a match. The next week, nothing. What's up with that? I won't get into the burial the Cruiserweight division has suffered. I will give them credit that the best storyline is MVP and Matt Hardy.

You could say that I'm fairly frustrated with the current product. It's not great at all and until Jericho or Edge come back and make me happy, it sucks right now.
